Astangu celebrates International Dance Day by uniting organisations accross Estonia through dance

30. April 2015

On April 29th, Astangu celebrated International Dance Day by organizing an unprecedented dance event and thus bringing 5 centres for people with disabilities from all over Estonia to Astangu.

According to Anneliis Jaanus, Astangu's physiotherapist and creative dance class instructor, who was the main organiser of the event, the event was inspired by the strong presence of dance in Estonians' cultural identity. Taking this into account, Jaanus felt surprised by how seldom such an event had been celebrated in Estonia. "Thus, the event aimed to promote dance as an excellent means of mental and physical wellbeing", Jaanus added.

The dance event was also covered by national prime-time news program TV3 Seitsmesed Uudised. View the video here
