New Year highlights best accomplishments of 2014

19. January 2015

Each January, Astangu traditionally celebrates the New Year by announcing past year's best projects and recognising other accomplishments.

The best projects and other recognitions for 2014 are as follows:

Overall Biggest Accomplishment of 2014: The Employment Unit and the very high employment rate of their clients. By the end of 2014, 99%, or 80 clients out of 81 who had graduated in spring 2014, were active. 8 clients working in our sheltered workshops moved on to the open labour (the original indicator was 6 clients).

Runner-up: IT Teacher Toomas Urbanik and his spectacular initiative which led Astangu's employees to participate in, and eventually win Garage48 hackathon.

Best Idea of 2014: Sign Language Interpreter Sandra Praats and her idea about creating a mentorship programme.

Students' Favourite Staff Member: Carpentry Teacher Armand Danilson (for the 2nd consecutive year).

Best Newcomer: Bus Driver / Administrative Specialist Sven Krull.

Last, but not least, the title of Astangu's Sunshine 2014 (given to a person whose positive attitude is highly appreciated by the rest of staff) went to information specialist Aivi Tamm.
